Hallelujah! (And There Was Much Rejoicing)

Last night was our first night in our new townhouse! Woo-who! Yes,we're finally moved in. Hard to believe this journey began with a trip to DC in April 2004 - kinda on a whim - and to actually be in our own digs a hair before Christmas.

When I have a chance, I'll have to post some pics to this news group of the townhouse. Unfortunately, you won't see the "before" of chrome vertical blinds covering the sliding glass door, slate gray walls and royal blue carpet...that was the 1st floor!

It'll still take to the year's end to get everything situated - a few boxes here, plenty of stuff I have no idea where's it's been stored, cable being installed tomorrow, and DSL hopefully soon.

Bones the cat, the computer, and yet a few more boxes still are at the in-laws.

I also have a buyer for the Benz...hope to get that resolved this week...what a nice "Christmas bonus" this week! :)

Hope everyone is well. If I don't speak to you before, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Being Intentional After A Layoff

One week ago today, I was laid off. It's still rather surreal. But I believe even in a layoff, one can be intentional.

Today, working for a company more than a few years is rare. There was a time when being an employee for one, two, or even three decades was admired and rewarded. In the tech industry, three years seems the average.
After three years, a worker can become an oddity. With nine years at AOL, I must've been a fossil. I wondered sometimes if people thought I had no ambition to "climb the corporate ladder." Or if I was one-dimensional and didn't wish to better myself. Else, why would one stay at the same job for nine years?

Turtle Invaders Are Here!

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Zyrobotics, LLC for IZEA. All opinions are 100% mine.

It's sad to think that some of you reading this have never heard of or played Space Invaders. Ah, the memories of playing that game at the mall arcade (something else long gone)! Sigh. Now, multiple game platforms exist and few games are more convenient than those playable via apps on your phone. With a wink at the classic Space Invaders approach, Turtle Invaders is a new app for younger children and children with special needs. I downloaded it and took it for a spin.
