Uuuuuuuuuuugggghhhh

Yeah, that's been me for the last week. I knew doom would befall me last Friday when G started getting sick, stayed out of daycare, and coughed on me numerous times over the weekend. Then, blammo. Sunday night it was all over. And a great week to have this happen to with the launch of our next niche site dvmOurTime.com . I worked through it but trying to code a whole site and coordinate with peeps isn't the best thing when you feel like a Mac truck has run you down, backed over you, stopped for a lunch break, changed the tires & oil, and slowly driven away. Of course, this was a blessing in disguise cuz I can always get WAY more done working from home than being at the office. Way too many needy peeps. I compare 4100 Wisconsin to adult daycare. It was rather entertaining last night when I went to CVS to get Day and Night "Dr. Quill." I've never seen so many people at one CVS. It's like half the town of Laurel was sick. But I digress. We also got about an i

Chelsea Is Being Pimped Out

You'll rarely see any talk on this blog that's political in nature. Personally, I hate politics. Always have. From my vantage point, politics is about spinning details to support your agenda and various forms of posturing that often leads to backstabbing. However, I do believe that some can truly make a difference. Some can be a Godly politician. We've strayed a long way from our Founding Father's Christian ideals for this nation. Then, I come across little nuggets like this. On Thursday in a discussion about Chelsea Clinton's role in her mother's campaign, MSNBC correspondent David Shuster asked: "Doesn't it seem as if Chelsea is sort of being pimped out in some weird sort of way?" This is common language. "Pimped out" may not be a very flattering phrase but it resulting in NBC suspending an Emmy-winning anchor because Hillary was offended? Gimme a break. In a press conference at the University of Maine, Senator Clinton called this comme

Is That A Bandaid On His Head?

So, a video editor in our building chats with me briefly in my office and I nearly do an obvious double-take. Internally I question, "Is that a band-aid on his head?" A couple quick glances and it was obvious the priest had smudged on the ash a bit thick to Al's forehead. Yup, Ash Wednesday had branded the practicing Catholics in our building. Even after 3 1/2 years here, I'm still not used to some things. Fact is, I wasn't around many Catholics (practicing, anyway) in the South. More peeps are Baptist, Methodist, non-practicing, or non-caring. Up here, there are certainly more possibilities of seeing smudges, hearing about lent, and also losing some of your work force on Jewish holidays. DC is always the melting pot and God loves them all.

Cop Magnet

Ya gotta love cops in the DC Metro. Now, I'm not talking about DC cops - MPD - not yet, anyway. In two days, I've had the pleasure of attracting attention from a Prince George's County officer while in the drive-through at the Laurel Chick-fil-A...and a Mountgomery County cruiser while close to DC. Now, what might I be doing to gain such attention from the fuzz? Expired license plate. Yeah, something called "life" got in the way of me remembering to renew that little detail. It expired on 1/31. So, on 2/5 the PG County officer honked several times at me while I was trying to get a sausage burrito and a coffee. "Sir, how ya doin' this morning?" the black officer polietly inquired. "Fine, thank you, officer," I managed, perplexed at why he was talking to me. "Just wanted you to know your tag is expired and you need to get that taken care of." "Oh, really? Wow, thank you, sir. I will." He waved a polite "take care&quo
